Icon Generator
Upload a square image and get the whole set at once: 16 / 32 / 48 / 64 / 128 / 180 / 192 / 256 / 512, plus a favicon.ico packing three sizes. Everything is generated locally; the image is never uploaded.

Why a whole set instead of one file
Because no single size works everywhere. A 16-pixel tab icon and a 512-pixel PWA splash differ by a factor of 32 — force one image to do both and the small one turns to mush while the large one goes soft. The convention is one file per size: the small ones hand-tuned at pixel level, the large ones keeping detail. This page scales from one source; the closer that source is to 512+, the crisper the large icons.
What favicon.ico actually is
It is not an image format but a container: it holds 16 / 32 / 48 PNGs and an index table. It is still the filename old systems and browsers look for first, so even with PNG icons in place, dropping a .ico at the site root remains the safest move. The one generated here uses the standard embedded-PNG layout that modern browsers accept.
Leave padding around the artwork
This page applies no padding — your image is scaled as drawn. Your source should keep a safe margin: Android adaptive icons crop to a circle or rounded square, and macOS and iOS add their own rounding. Artwork that runs to the edge gets clipped there. A rule of thumb is 10%–15% on every side.
Questions
At least 512×512, and square if possible. Smaller works, but the 512 icon is a hard upscale and looks soft — the page says so plainly rather than pretending otherwise.
No. SVG icons need vector artwork, and what arrives here is a bitmap — "converting" it to SVG only produces a fake vector with a bitmap inside: bigger file, identical sharpness. Redraw it in a design tool if you need vectors.
No. Scaling and encoding happen on this page with no network requests. The favicon.ico is assembled locally too.
Put favicon.ico at the site root. Use the 180 as apple-touch-icon and the 192 / 512 in manifest.json. The filenames here are already named by purpose.
